Make sure you know how to design your template to the most professional level.

If you are like me, you will probably also have been surprised by the amount of work that goes into creating an email template. One of the first things I found out is that is was important to add links, embedded throughout the email template, in order to make sure people found my company. Your email newsletter template should undoubtedly include a lot of news and information about sales, but do remember to include links to your website at various points therein so that the client can easily navigate to your webpage if such is desired.

This doesn't mean that you will want to continuously put links embedded in pictures and text throughout the email. I have discovered that it is much better to have only a few different highlighted points, so if people want to go to your page they have that option. If you have a company logo for example, it would be nice to embed a link back to your website in the picture of that logo. When you are looking at a website, keep in mind that the news and sale items can also contain off-site as well as internal links.
In the bottom of the email I include a text link. So client do not have to scroll up to find the link.

White space is gold in any project. It's the frame that sets off where people are supposed to look and the same goes for email design. It's professional to leave a lot of your email clear so that you content has its chance to pop for your client. If I take care of this, I'll ensure that the email template design has a professional look to it. Email tactics which are too aggressive can make clients back away because they feel that you are not being genuine; they would prefer for you to make an attempt to connect on a more sincere level. My email marketing templates are like the welcome mat at my business -- people experience them without giving them thought but they have an important place in setting the mood of interaction so that they feel welcome as well as productive. Welcome mats like email marketing templates are among the most perceived as well as least noticed part of any business, and I take the time to organize and choose them with care.
